I showed in the previous post about an article describing dr Roy Spencer’s new paper which shows that the atmosphere releases more heat into space than what is expected by climate models. This shows that the climate sensitivity of CO2 is low.

Not only is the climate sensitivity to human released greenhouse gases low, but humans contribution to the registered increase of CO2 is probable also low.

According to dr. Murry Salby the indication of the recent increase in CO2 is that it’s mostly natural. He is about to release a paper which shows just that. In this lecture he describes how.

The amazing conclusion from his talk is that not only do humans not only not affect the climate, humans don’t even have any important influence on the CO2 level.

That start me thinking. How much do human contribute to the yearly release of CO2 compared to the natural release?

According to Wikipedia the atmosphere’s weight is about 5×10¹⁵ tons. The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is about 0.04%. The weight of the atom such as Carbon, Oxygen and Nitrogen are almost the same. The atom numbers of carbon is 6, Nitrogen is 7 respectively Oxygen is 8. Most of the atmosphere is either Oxygen or Nitrogen. CO2 is composed of 3 atoms, Nitrogen and Oxygen molecules both are composed of 2 atoms. CO2 is therefore about one-third heavier than both O2 or N2. So the weight part of the atmosphere of CO2 is not 0.04% but 0.06%. This is not an exact calculation but an approximation, assuming that the data from Wikipedia is right.

The weight of CO2 in the atmosphere is 0.0006 × 5×10¹⁵ tons which is 3×10¹²  tons. According to Tom Segerstad of Oslo University the average lifetime of CO2 in the atmosphere is 5 years. I give it 10 years in this calculation.

The amount of CO2 which is recirculated from nature, generated from fossil fuels or volcanoes in any one year is about 3×10¹¹  tons. According to Wikipedia the amount released from burning of fossil fuels each year are 21.3×10⁹  tons which is 2.13×10¹⁰ tons.

Humans yearly CO2 contributions is according to this calculation less than 10%. According to the life time of CO2 that Tom Segerstad calculated it should be less than 5%. This does not tell you anything about how much CO2 is recirculated in nature from vegetation or from absorption and release from the oceans.

Shutting up, blocking peer-review papers and blocking scientists from funding when scientists come up with results which is threatening to a scientific consensus or a paradigm is not something which is unique to climate science. Not at all! 

I think that too many established scientists in academia is in a collegial comfort zone. I like to describe them as they are being in love with their own expertise. They therefore are reluctant to think outside the box as they believe they already know what there is to know of the fundamental basis of their respective scientific field. However, this may not always be true.

I want to show two examples of two other such field here.

One is the big bang theory. The big bang theory which estimates that the universe was created in a big bang some 13 or 15 billion years ago, is of course at the outer limits of human knowledge, literary speaking. Interestingly, there exist groups of theoretical physicists which put out PhD thesis and meet at seminars to discuss what exactly happened a few fractions of a seconds after the big bang. I’m sure that there are a lot of interesting mathematics involved for those participants during these meetings, but I very much doubt that it has much to do with reality. Nevertheless this is exactly what they try to convince people that it is, reality.

It has become more difficult to justify the big bang theory over time. Astrophysicists have been forced to include something they call dark matter to make it work.

A few astronomers who have been looking into quasars that have strong redshift which according to the Hubble Law indicates that they are located at great distances and therefore release huge amounts of energy, which would make them the most energetic objects in the universe, noted that many of these quasars seem to be connected to galaxies located much closer. They have even discovered a quasar in front of a galaxy which according to the redshift for the quasar should have been behind it and  blocked out of sight.

I’m both a big bang and a steady state universe agnostic. The important difference between the big bang controversy and the CAGW is that with the big bang controversy ordinary people are not affected by any economic policies based on that particular theory. There are no political ambitions by environmental organisation or by politicians and there are no rent seeking business interests associated with it all. It is purely an academic pursuit.

However, for this the next case there may be big implications for humanity and this may also get an impact on the climate debate as this is potentially connected to energy production. I know that by taking up this case I may upset some of my readers. I will talk about what has been called “Cold Fusion”. Because this term has been so tainted it is now called low-energy nuclear reactions or LENR for short. You may remember that little over 20 years ago two researchers Martin Fleishmann and Stanley Pons presented what came to be known as cold fusion to the public. They claimed that they could create fusion energy by using palladium, deuterium “heavy hydrogen”. They claimed that by letting a current go through the metal palladium they could create excess heat.

As most nuclear physicists already know, the thought of creating fusion by working with metals, heavy hydrogen and letting a current running through it all in some kind of bottle is just pure fantasy. I mean, this idea is just preposterous. Nevertheless this concept was tested by several groups soon after it was announced. 

Nobody could reproduce the process and get any form of excess heat. Nor could they register any nuclear radiation in the form of gamma rays or any neutron radiation. Therefore it was pure bunk. Case closed. Cold Fusion became a joke and synonymous with pseudo science. No respectable physicists would after this science incident want to having anything to do with “Cold Fusion”, period.

The Hot Fusion scientists could now breathe a sign of relief. Hot Fusion is the process which tries to simulate the same processes that is going on in the Sun using hot plasma of hydrogen and from this process create electric power for the grid. The Hot Fusion research field is in the same way as the global warming research field a multi-billion reasearch industry. If fusion cold be created efficiently with Cold Fusion technology then many Hot Fusion researchers could soon find themselves out of a work.

The official story was that Cold Fusion was bunk and the story of Cold Fusion apart from being a practical joke was soon forgotten by most scientists.

Meanwhile a band of mostly elderly metallurgists and chemists was intrigued by the concept and started to do their own research in this field, in most case without any form of funding. And indeed, many were able to reproduce this concept and to get excess heat. In the US, Canada and most of Europe public funding became blocked for anything remotely connected to the term Cold Fusion. In other parts of the world where academia in this field has been more free things have been different.

In what in practice has become a parallel universe these researchers have their own peer-review literature and their own seminars. The two communities never meet.

After reported progress in 2004, DOE the US Department Of Energy again put up a review panel which looked into some of the research that had been done. After a hastily presentation of evidence by cold fusion researchers, none of the reviewers could find any evidence for fusion processes. However, half the panel concluded that there were evidence for anomalous production of excess heat.

Despite that half of the panel thought that there existed evidence for anomalous heat generation, they all still recommended that no public research funding was to be allocated for research on any LENR projects.

Today both side of this issue claim to have evidence to support their view.

Proof that it is not nuclear fusion is derived from the fact that no gamma rays or neutron radiation has been detected nor has any persons in their labs ever registered any radiation burns.

Proof that nuclear fusion is happening can be derived from the fact that elevated levels of either Helium or Tritium atoms has been registered when anomalous heat have been created.

Lets examine this conflict. First let me tell you that I have specialized in Material Science. I think a key to all this is to understand a little bit of what a metals really are and what is nuclear fusion.

The nuclear fusion we are taking about here is fusion of Hydrogen atoms into Helium atoms. This causes release of energy. There are 3 forms of Hydrogen. Ordinary Hydrogen which has one Proton but no Neutron. Deuterium which has one Proton and one Neutron. Tritium which has one Proton and two Neutrons. Deuterium and Tritium are both what is called heavy Hydrogen. Deuterium exists as a stable form in nature and on average 0.016% of all Hydrogen is Deuterium. Tritium is not stable in nature and weakly radioactive. It does exist in nature in extremely small amounts while it is produced naturally in the upper atmosphere from interaction with cosmic radiation.

Here is a little crash course on metals: All metals we see are composed of little microscopical small grain of crystals. In each crystal grain inside the metal, atoms are arranged orderly in successive layers in a lattice. However in almost all these crystal lattices there are irregularities. This can be from a layer which is disturbed by a different type of atom and in some layers some of the atoms in the layers can be missing. These irregularities are called dislocations. Individual crystal grains are kept together by electrostatic forces. The reason that metal look and shine as they do is because of free moving electrons which move about inside the crystal lattice. This is because the outer electrons of metal atoms in the crystal are not bound to single atoms, instead they float around in what is called an electron cloud within each individual crystal lattice.

The only way by which either elevated amounts of Hydrogen or Tritium can be measured in a cold fusion experiment is if there any form of nuclear processes going on which involves hydrogen. There is no away around that! If you get elevated amounts of Helium or Tritium then these gases are produced by nuclear processes, period. Neither Tritium or Helium atoms can be created out of nothing.

Of course measurements can be made incorrectly, the measured gases can be contaminated or these claims can be right out frauds.

Now, there are many people involved in these measurement in LENR experiments, which make it highly unlikely that severe error has been made.

If we accept that these nuclear produced gases was measured correctly then the only conclusion can be that we are dealing with some form nuclear process. If this is true then the requirement that gamma and neutron radiation must be present in the experiment when nuclear processes are occurring must be false.

While the energy and momentum must be preserved in any nuclear process it is important to point out that the process inside a crystal follows the rules of quantum mechanics. The energy inside crystal lattices are quantified in discrete vibrations called phonons which has similar characteristics to photons except the energy of these vibrations are mechanical heat vibrations, not electromagnetic waves.

Hydrogen atoms, whether they are heavy or not behave much like electrons inside the crystal lattice. The main difference is that they are heavier and positively charged. It isn’t a far fetch to assume that hydrogen atoms can interact inside a dislocation or at an anomaly near edges of the crystal grains.

Of course the density and distance between individual atoms inside a metal lattice is much higher than in a plasma. I find it plausible that a nuclear process becomes possible through quantum couplings to the atoms in the crystal lattice so that the energy from the nuclear process is dispersed inside the crystal as heat instead of being released as gamma rays or released as neutron radiation.

Just two years before Martin Fleishmann and Stanley Pons press conference a new form of superconductivity was discovered at temperatures near room temperatures. This was not anything which was theoretical expected. The unique effect is caused by wave functions which has a much larger distance reach than is the case for the previous known form of superconductivity. Because something is believed to be theoretic impossible doesn’t mean that this necessary is the case, especially when it comes to quantum mechanics.

A few years ago at SPAWAR a navy research institute in San Diego researchers could by the help of a special gel-like detector called CR-39 detect tracks of alpha particles in cold fusion experiments. Alpha particles are the same thing as helium nuclei which are the end product of nuclear fusion. Here is a paper on this experiment,

I suggest you watch this space. One day what is called Cold Fusion or LENR could change how we produce energy and to do this in an environmental friendly way. Common water hold small amounts of heavy water in the form of Deuterium. If this process could be harnessed enormous amount of energy are available as common water contains 300 000 times more energy than what is contained in the same volume of gasoline/petrol. If we could use this process for energy production then an energy supply for the human population for the remaining time this planet is habitable would be secured. The Earth is expected to be habitable for another 5 or 7 billion years.

In universities around the world in laboratories dedicated to material science and within the semiconductor industry there are many qualified experts and very sophisticated equipment which can be used to solve the LENR question and help scientists to understand what is going on theoretically and in helping to transform this phenomenon from a lab stage to commercial cheap and environmentally friendly power station production. So far while cold fusion or LENR is not a phenomenon which is accepted within mainstream science, meeting between LENR researchers and main stream material scientists seems to be far off in time. But, things can change.

Ever since the discovery was made by Martin Fleishmann and Stanley Pons I have followed the issue. Shortly after it was “debunked” I found information that some researchers did find Tritium, which is something that can only be created by some form of nuclear process. Before the Internet became widespread I used CompuServe. On CompuServe they had a group dedicated to Cold Fusion and I found information which showed quite clearly that this was a new nuclear phenomena that generated anomalous heat. This was despite problems in trying to reproduce the process. This plagued the research and blocked it from being accepted by mainstream science. Problems with reproducing the process, I think has to do under which conditions the metal was formed that was later used in the experiment. This then affects the condition of the individual crystal lattices in the metal.

It now appears that what is called Cold Fusion is not a traditional fusion process but instead single Hydrogen atoms interact and causes nuclear transmutation with single metal atoms in the crystal, transforming metal atoms into a new type of metal atoms while releasing energy in the process.

Eco-Fascism

Eco-fascism as a label is what some call the radical part of the environmental movement.

Is the radical part of the environmental movement a totalitarian movement?

I don’t suggest that we sceptics are soon to be sent to concentration or gulag camps. However some radical environmentalists want to send somebody like me on trial.
Here are some similarities.

• They want censorship on this subject because there is only one accepted view-point. Therefore they don’t allow debate.
• They have a utopian goal which has to be met sometime in the future. They want to change from mainly fossil fuel energy consumption to low energy, dispersed, intermittent and much more expensive energy production based on what is called green renewable energy. This is what in their propaganda is called a low carbon economy. They ignore how this change is affecting ordinary people.
• They have a simplified view on the world and simplified belief system how thing works. Among the things they believe in is an imminent ecological collapse and they believe in catastrophic human caused global warming. There is no evidence for any of these catastrophes. Any changes in nature are by them attributed to human activities.
• They want to break down the old so that they can build something new from scratch to reach their utopian goals, without take into account the consequences. They want to stop us using fossil fuel and replace it with something which doesn’t work or work poorly.
• They want to take control of the next generation by taking control of children. A whole new generation of children in the western world are taught to feel eco-guilt and taught to believe in human caused dangerous global warming.

When the children grow up brainwashed are the results going to be a new Timothy McVeigh or a new Anders Behring Breivik? This idea may seem far fetch, but look at the next video, you may change your mind.

While this group are one of the more extreme of green movement, other groups and environmental NGO’s also hold deeply anti-human and anti-democratic views. While listening to what is going on inside the UN and its branches of IPCC and UNEP where it is by these people in these organizations self-evident that any extreme weather event is attributed to the sinful industrial consumption of the west and for them there is proof that people in the industrial world now is causing increased temperature, increase in sea level rise, more ice melting and all sorts of bad weather. I feel they have an eco-fascist agenda. They propagate this propaganda without any challenge from the media and without any accountability.

BTW! This just in. The british Met Office a bastion of global warming propaganda now admits that there has been no warming of the ocean since 2003. Futher, the sea level has had a sharp drop during last year. 

This last week the ENSO index has drop to La Niña conditions after have been in a neutral conditions for the past 3 months. Before that it was in a La Niña condition for almost a year. The returning La Niña can be seen as a blue streak in the Eastern Tropical Pacific at the Equator.

What is going to happened next with the sea level change the coming year should be interesting to watch. Sea level changes is indicative of changes in the global sea temperature.

While here in Norway nothing has happened, (weather-wise). Of course the maniac who went on a rampage the other day is something completely different.

But sticking to the weather, the weather here has not been unusual, although somewhat rainy. Some part of the country has suffered from flooding.

Because there’s a heat wave going on in Washington, New York and in large sections in Central and Eastern US, although not record-breaking, the US media is going full throttle in claiming that this is proof of global warming and anyone who questions this or remember the previous cold winters is an idiot. Of course there is a world outside of the US. Among them is the southern hemisphere. Many places down under suffers from a severe winter. This bode well for us, if we like severe winters, on the upper part of the planet because this points to yet another coming snowy and cold winter.

BTW! It has come to my attention while looking at blogs that Anders Breivik the norwegian mass murderer according to his manifesto also is a “global warming denier” or as I would prefer to call it a climate realists. I share his view on this particular subject. That said, I haven’t even the slightest remote sympathy with his inhuman act.

Of course. the global warming propaganda machine are going to use the fact that he doesn’t believe in dangerous human caused global warming and link other “deniers” view to his, thereby linking global warming skepticism to nutters.

They will conveniently omit to mention that both Usama Bin Laden and Charles Manson did turned out to be climate alarmists. But, this is no longer or to be more correct this has never really been about the science, instead this is now a full fledge ideological propaganda war.

At the end, what is important is which side has the real science on its side based on real evidence, not who is associated with whom or who get the most money or from whom.

The global warmers has two type of evidence they claim to be on their side, sort of, computer models and call for believe in authority.

Neither is of course represent any form for proof for the CAGW narrative. The only way for them to succeed in proving CAGW is if they can convincingly with scientific proof show that there is a high positive feedback between CO2 and water vapor. Nothing else matter!

They have failed to do so!

This is easy to do if you know where to look and this is done even without including the Sun. The Sun is of course the main driver for the climate change we experience during our lifetime and have driven up the temperature a little bit during the last century because of higher solar activity. But I won’t show how the Sun drive the climate in this article.

Most people don’t have any knowledge how to debunk dangerous human caused global warming also known as CAGW. If more knew how, then, even more people would stop believing in the CAGW theory. I hope this knowledge will be spread.

The year to year variation in global and regional temperature around the world is primarily driven by fluctuations in the temperatures of the oceans.
This is because, sea water store and keep a lot more heat energy than can ever be stored and kept in the atmosphere.

It is in the upper layers of the oceans where the heat is stored which drives Earth’s chaotic climate together with day-to-day heat flux coming from the Sun.

If you know something about the climate you probably recognize the ENSO index which indicates if there is an El Nino or a La Nina in the Tropical Pacific.
Another important index is the Pacific Decadal Oscillation PDO.

You can find the PDO graph on Wikipedia.
If you look at this graph you can see a distinct 60 year cyclic pattern. This index has for the last 30 years been in a positive phase but has recently gone negative.
The PDO is a major driver for changes in the global temperature, as the PDO covers large parts of the pacific, the world’s largest ocean. When it is positive the temperature increases and when its negative the temperature goes down.

The identification of PDO which is a combined index of sea surface temperature and air pressure over northern part of the Pacific was made in 1996.
There also exit tree-ring proxies of humidity changes along the pacific coast which show this 60 year pattern going back in times several hundreds of year, making this a distinct natural non human driven cycle.

GISS

If we look at the GISS global temperature graph we also see this distinct PDO cycle with a warming trend from 1910 to 1940 and a warming trend from 1975 to 2000. In between there was slight cooling between 1950 and 1975. Since 2000 there has been no warming.
This graph can also be found on Wikipedia under global temperature GISS.
The positive phase of PDO between 1910 to 1940 and 1975 to 2000 was of equal size. If we assume that the temperature was driven by a combination of PDO and by AGW during the last warming period, then the AGW part was only about 0.2 degree centigrade for this period, making this warming insignificant.

 
North Atlantic has also an important index. The Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation AMO.
This graph which also can be found on Wikipedia has a similar pattern as the PDO. Currently AMO is positive, but sinking and it should go negative within a few years time. The AMO indicates the temperature in the North Atlantic and in areas near Greenland.
As we can see, there was also a warming period between 1920 and 1960. In fact the highest recorded temperatures in most part of Greenland were when AMO was increasing between 1920 and 1950. Arctic is the area on the Earth which exhibits larger climate variations than any other places on Earth except maybe the Antarctica Peninsula.

There are two particular regions climatologists like to visit and examine the most. Those are the Arctic and Antarctica Peninsula. The reason is not only because polar bears live in the Arctic but also because both of these regions have been warming up fast during the last couple of decades.

There were little monitoring of the climate on the Antarctica Peninsula and in the Arctic region during the warming during the first warming period. However there were reporting of warm conditions in the Arctic during the last warming period.

He pointed out that formerly the waters about Spitzbergen held an even summer temperature of about 3 degree Celsius. This year recorded temperatures up to 15 degree Celsius.

These scientists have no special interest in other regions as those regions lack significant warming and are not supportive of their AGW agenda.
In other parts of Antarctica outside the Peninsula there have been no warming at all. However the Antarctic Peninsula and the Arctic has on thing in common. These areas are affected by changes in sea temperatures, currents and wind patterns.

Soon not only is the PDO staying in negative territory, but the AMO should also turn negative. This should force the global temperature down for at least the coming next 30 years.

Let’s now look at different periods of temperature changes during the last 100 year. Here is the standard CAGW interpretation according the litany used by the global warmers.

A) 1910 -1940. Here I am going to call this the first global warming period
This warming period was not caused by anthropogenic greenhouse gases, but instead by an increase in the Sun’s total solar irradiance TSI. TSI in layman’s term is the total amount of heat that is radiated toward the Earth. It is believed that the increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gases was still too small during this time to have an important role.

B) 1950-1975. Here I will call it the global cooling period.
The cooling between 1950 and 1975 was caused by increased amount aerosols, mainly from sulphur dioxide, SO2. This SO2 was released into the atmosphere as result from the increased industrialization in Europe, Japan and North America after the end of World War 2. Because this SO2 has a cooling effect on the climate and the added levels of CO2 was still not large enough to counter this cooling effect, the climate cooled.

C) 1975-2000 Here I will call it the second warming period
The warming was caused by the increased amount of anthropogenic gasses. Because aerosols such as SO2 don’t stay in the atmosphere while the anthropogenic gases CO2 and Methane stay in the atmosphere much longer, the climate warms up. This is what can be seen in the temperature graphs.

D) 2000-to present. Here I will call it the recent period.
This is a period in which there has been no significant warming as expected. Because the amount of CO2 is still increasing the warming are set to increase in the near future. In this period we are talking about weather and not climate, which must be viewed over longer perspective. It is possible that this period with no strong warming is caused by increased released of aerosols caused by the rapid industrialization of China and India combined with a small natural negative forcing.

What’s wrong with the standard explanation made by CAGW climatologists and cultists? Let’s examine why their wacky logic doesn’t work.

A) 1910 -1940. The first global warming period
If this was caused by changes in TSI and the second warm period was caused mostly by anthropogenic forcing then there is an interesting question you should ask?
If that was the case then the changes in the TSI forcing should have been somewhere between 20-50 larger than during the second warming period.
It turns out that the recent overall changes in TSI during the second warming period were quite small. Why should this be much larger during the first warming period? This doesn’t seem reasonable. Instead changes in the PDO and AMO collaborate much better to the temperature changes during the first warming period than from changes in TSI.

B) 1950-1975. The global cooling period.
The hypothesis that aerosols like SO2 were the main driver for this slight cooling is based on guesswork and assumptions. Because “proof of” CAGW is based on computer simulations of the climate and the computer modelers to a large extend exclude natural drivers and only include small changes from the composition of the atmosphere such as CO2, SO2 and soot, the combined tools they have to their disposal in trying to match changes to what happens in the real world are limited. That’s why they have come up with the idea that the cooling was caused by aerosols. In reality there is no evidence that this is the case. Once again the cooling is more likely caused to be the result from changes in oceanic cycles of the PDO and AMO.

C) 1975-2000 The second warming period
The second warming is claimed to have been caused primarily by anthropogenic human caused greenhouse gases. It may be possible that some of the warming was caused by greenhouse gases, but changes of PDO and AMO offer a much better explanation for this warming as this follows the behavior and display a similar pattern as from the first warming period.

D) 2000-to present The recent period.
The stop in global warming during this period is claimed to be either caused by aerosols or by natural forcing. This period, the warmest during the last 100 years was at the peak of the latest PDO cycle. Together with the AMO which soon are going to be negative, it is likely that in the coming decade there will by an accelerating cooling. However we will have to wait and see.

In the latest IPCC report the PDO was mentioned, but there were no deeper analysis of this index, presumably to minimize any effect on their preferred CAGW narrative.
Instead in the Summary for Policymakers it was stated that most of the warming of the last 50 year is very likely or 90% anthropogenic. In other words human caused.
This was a political statement for which there were no evidence inside the scientific parts of the IPCC report.
The Summary for Policymakers is a kind of short executive report for decision makers, politicians and for the media, full of CAGW spin.

Conclusion! The most logical cause for most of the last 100 years of climate change is that this is caused by forcing from oceanic cycles such as the PDO and AMO, not from CO2 and aerosols.

I deliberately used the GISS temperature curve here. This data is from the NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies which shows the highest temperature increase of all data sets. This is where James Hansen is the boss. GISS data is preferred data set by the IPCC. Other datasets are HadCRUT from CRU and NCDC from NOAA.
All these data are drawn from weather station data.
These datasets are claimed to be independent of each other. In fact, the groups which work with them do collaborate with the data between each other. They then process the data individually within in each group. When they talk about this process they call it to harmonize the data. This is used to compensate for lack of stations in same areas and over oceans and for compensations from the urban heat island effect.
How they make this harmonizing of the data is what they don’t want to disclose to outsiders. Still nearly 2 years after Climategate they still haven’t released how they make their calculations. A little bit strange, don’t you think, because what better way to convince skeptics that the calculation is made the right way than to release all of their data and calculations. Unless of course they mangled and massaged the data in such a way that it shows too much warming to support their preferred narrative.

The problem with these scientists, it seems to me, is that they are so convinced of the validity of the CAGW theory and that they think that it will be catastrophic and therefore it is critical for them to try convince politicians and the public that they are right. They therefore tend to spice up their data a little and they view this as necessary as this is done for a good cause.

Note however that the size of this temperature increase currently is so modest that even if all of it was caused by human activity it is difficult to view the result as alarming. One reason is because the greenhouse effect from CO2 is logarithmic which means that any additional increase of its level only increase the overall greenhouse effect with a diminishing added effect. Right now because of the logarithmic effect where CO2 is nearing it saturation point of its greenhouse effect, the overall added greenhouse effect is already about 70% what we can expected it to be if it was to double from its pre-industrial level of 290 ppm. The current real increase in volume from its pre-industrial level is only about 30%.

These datasets from land based temperature stations probably show a temperature increase which is larger than it in reality is.

Satellite data on the other hand show less temperature increase. If the changes caused by El Nino and La Nina events are filtered out from the satellite data the overall trend has been a slight cooling since about 2003.
If we assume that the satellite data is more correct than the land based global temperature trends, then the AGW part that was only about 0.2 degree centigrade for the last 100 years disappear almost completely and only the PDO forcing remains. Anyone who have followed the debate on the skeptic side know that the results from the various surface station global temperature graphs put together by the different global warming groups are very questionable. The question can be raised if there even has been measurable global warming trend over the last 100 years. It probable has been, but it has been a modest non alarming one.

Another thing is that the theoretical warming that should exist in the tropics in the upper troposphere doesn’t exist. The tropics are where most of the greenhouse effect occurs and up about 10 kilometers altitude there should be warming. It doesn’t exist according to both radiosondes and from satellite measurements.

Remember, the question is not about if there is a greenhouse effect or if CO2 is a greenhouse, but about if there exist any risk of dangerous global warming? It doesn’t.

In the beginning when I started to learn about global warming I didn’t realized to the extend to which many educated people were impressed by climate models and that it was primarily because of these models that so many people became convinced of CAGW.

I have built computer models, simulating reality myself, so I instinctively distrust models which don’t include complete in-data and correct internal structures.

In the case of climate models they don’t include natural drivers such as solar variations and variations in sea currents. And they can’t simulate clouds and air convection of clouds.
Furthermore, earth’s climate is a chaotic and a non linear system, which can’t be simulated with computers with any accuracy as there are too many unknown factors involved. What the climate modelers has done is to exclude variations of natural drivers and instead only attribute changes to small variations in the compositions of the atmosphere using guesswork and assumptions.
Even worse, the computer predictions so far have shown to be wrong, consistently.
So during the last decade, which has had no warming, the computer models were unable to make any correct predictions, because natural forces have been dominating and they don’t include natural forcing. However, much better predictions could have been made with reasonably accuracy by including changes in natural oceanic cycles like the PDO and AMO and by the predicted current slowdown in solar activity.

The computer modellers often complain that they don’t have enough powerful super computers. Given the lack of accurate data more powerful computers won’t help. Powerful supercomputers are useful only if the mathematics for the physical processes are well understood. So for example, it make much more sense to use powerful supercomputers to simulate the aero-dynamics when constructing an aeroplane, while the physical dynamics of airflow is much better understood.

Another reason so many people believe in catastrophic global warming is because the CAGW theory is very easy to grasp. Even a layman can understand that infrared radiation air with greenhouse gases get absorbed by the air. The greenhouse theory is simple and lectures that are given to people seem convincing especially if they don’t have scientific knowledge and haven’t examined the theory critically. And of course, 20 year of mass media brainwashing helps to convince a lot of  people.

It amazes me that not more people look at the satellite data over temperature changes, ice cover change and of sea level changes. If they did they would see that there is no alarming temperature increase, no mass melting of sea ice and no acceleration of the world’s sea level increase.

The mass media has a big role. Maybe you hear in the middle of June about a press release from a meeting with the American Astronomical Society which reported that there are several indications that the next solar cycle, solar cycle 25 may be spotless similar to what happened during the Maunder minimum in the 17th century.
Solar activity has already slow down to the same level that occurred during the Dalton minimum. The Dalton Minimum started during the Napoleon Wars.

This press release was reported in the press, but media interest quickly lost interest in follow-up on this news.

Also recently there was an admission by climatologists that global warming has stopped for at least the last 10 years. The fault for this they say was caused by aerosols, mainly from SO2 released from the factories in China. The lead author for this study physical phenomenon was Robert K. Kaufmann a professor in environmental economy. One co-author was Michael Mann, of the hockey stick fame.

Kaufmann who has no academic background in atmospheric physics, looks like an over-aged hippie. I don’t want to pick on this researcher in particular, but it seem to me that there is a special culture among climatologists and environmental scientists of an anti-establishment and anti-corporate culture which has an important impact on their scientific judgment which is resulting in reduced objectivity.

There are some serious problems with the assumption that SO2 is causing global cooling.
It is well-known that global cooling occurs when large amounts of SO2 and ash are blasted into the stratosphere during large volcanic eruptions.
Aerosols pollution, which as opposed to CO2 is a real pollution, was the cause of cooling during the global cooling period between 1950 and 1975 according to the climatologists. However SO2 from factories and coal plants, which don’t reach high up in the atmosphere, reacts with water vapor and quickly fall to the ground. It stays in the atmosphere only for a few days at the most.
It is very difficult to believe that this pollution 50 years ago was the leading cause for the cooling over Europe and North America 50 years ago and now that the same cause of cooling over China. This is partly because there is no empirical evidence that this pollution has a cooling effect near ground. If it has had a cooling effect this cooling would mainly have occurred over land in both these cases.

For a cooling to have a forcing effect the cooling must also happen over oceans. This is not the case here. Cooling over land has no long-lasting effect as it is the heat content over oceans which is what affects the climate. The heat capacity over land and atmosphere is way too small. Therefore the aerosol global cooling theory from industrial pollution is crap.

Instead I’m talking about the little angry rodents which inhabit the Scandinavian Mountains. That’s the area in which I live.

Some years because of unsustainable population explosion lemmings are to be found all over in the mountains in great numbers. These years are called lemming years. That’s what we have now. Last time they were seen in this great numbers was over 40 years ago.

The audience, probably perceived by them to be susceptible for the global warming message was this time more reserved. Much has happened since Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth received an Oscar award in 2007. Climategate reveled to outsiders what was going on inside the climatology community. The colder weather also made people more skeptical. The purpose was to encourage Hollywood executives to give attention to the global warming crisis.
Anyway, the group eagerly tried to persuade the Hollywood elite to make more effort in convincingly brainwash people in believing in the (global warming / climate change / climate disruption / deteriorating atmosphere) cause.

I’m not sure who the enemies are today? Maybe climate change deniers or the cold weather? Or maybe the greatest enemy of all is what is called common sense among ordinary people who may still have that after 20 years of intense brainwashing.

One thing the meeting confirmed was the Gore Effect. The Gore Effect, for those who don’t know, is the connection between visits by the former vice president Al Gore and unusual cold weather, blizzards and storms. There is now a consensus among Gore Effect scholars that this connection is not only directly connected to Al Gore whereabouts, but it’s also connected to important global warming meetings made when Al Gore is absent. One such example was at the Cancun climate conference. This tropical resort broke it low time temperature record during the conference.

Before Christmas the major airport hubs of Europe came to a standstill because of cold and snow. Amazingly Heathrow airport, London came to a complete standstill for several days because of a few centimeters of snow.

This is the type of equipments they should invest on given the solar driven cool down which is now starting to show up.

 Here is a speech by Nir Shaviv. In this speech he shows how the amount of cloud and temperature of the Oceans follows changes in the cosmic ray flux.

Dr. Nir Shaviv is a physicist who has suggested that period of ice ages happens because more intense cosmic rays hit Earth when the Solar System travels through the arms of the Milky Way. When the solar system is located outside the spiral arms of the Milky Way which is most of the times, the climate on Earth is warmer than it is now. The Earth is currently in an ice age period and this period has lasted for about 3 million years. We are in a short break from the resent glaciation, called the Holocene interglacial period.

This graph is based on a correlation between the length of solar cycles and the global temperature trends which was examined by two Danish researcher Friis-Christensen and Lassen in 1991. I have added the temperature drop at the end of the graph for how large it should be if this correlation hold for the latest solar cycle length which was the largest for over 200 years. 

This is a graph is from a neutron counter in Oulu, Finland. Its measure is equivalent to the cosmic ray flux. The higher the count the cooler the Earth gets. The lower the count gets the higher the temperature gets. If more cosmic rays hits Earth, the more clouds is formed and more sunlight is reflected back out into space, thus the Earth cools. I have colored the extreme values for warming in orange and for cooling in blue. One can clearly see that the cosmic ray flux is related to solar cycles. When the Sun is active the cosmic ray flux is low and when it is less active the ray flux is high. During the recent warming between 1975 and 2000, the peak during the high point of the solar cycles were high. Right now the Sun is in an unusual inactive state and the cosmic ray flux is very high, indicating a cooling trend. This is shown at the top right end of the graph.

In this graph of PDO ”The Pacific Decadal Oscillation”. I have added the marking from the previous graph. One can see that the PDO and the cosmic ray flux follow each other and subsequently the cooling which occurred between 1950 and 1975 and the warming which occurred between 1975 and 2000 can be attributed to a large extent to the cyclical temperature variation of the PDO which probably is solar driven. This is contrary to the claims by the IPCC which states that with 90% confidence, human anthropogenic warming is the main cause for the warming since 1950. This statment is not based on the data and is clearly false.

 
Human caused global warming in Minnesota? I don’t think so. If you see Al Gore and the hockey stick man Michael Mann in this video then it is only coincidental.

BTW. The snow in the previous post didn’t show up in Houston as expected. Instead it went north and hit Dallas. Yesterday and today once again the deep US south was experiencing a white out with heavy snow. This time it is Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee with Nashville and Atlanta which get the snow.

Two years ago they also had snow. But that time the snow accumulation was small and the snow melted quickly away. However this time there is a hard freeze and the expected accumulation of snow is expected to be much heavier. The risk of power outages is another additional problem.

I first became interested in the climate because of the global warming stories and description of the supposedly dangerous gas known as CO2 that I found on the BBC website.
Because of my background in Physics I realized that what they presented was not science. Instead it was pure propaganda for an agenda and had nothing to do with science. All this annoyed me.

So I started to ask why? I also started to listen to lectures by climatologists.
I listened and looked at what they were saying. The first thing I reacted to was that they almost never mentioned that the most important greenhouse gas is water vapor. If asked, they usually reply by saying that, yes it cause most of the greenhouse effect, but because people don’t can cause changes in the level of water vapor in the atmosphere it is not of any importance.

And I was saying. WHAT!

Why do they say it like that. It’s as if  they want to hide the truth from the public. Of course it is much easier to convince “indoctrinate” people that way, by not telling the whole truth.

Because I found out that there are excellent historical correlations between solar activity and global temperature I looked for scientific papers made by these people where they investigate the connection between the Sun and Earth’s climate.
After all if human activity has any effect in the global temperature,  it make sense at first to look for how climate varies naturally.

But, these people base their research on climate models and assume that the main climate drivers today are caused by small changes in the composition of the atmosphere and therefore they exclude other factors.
Of course after my first initial investigation I have learned a lot more, both of periodic variations of solar activity and about the extraordinary scientific corruption that is occurring within the climate science community. This corruption is truly mind boggling.

The current slowdown of the Sun of consisting with de Vries cycle solar cycle which happens on average every 179 year, although this number varies a little bit.
The reason seems to be as a result of changes in the rotation speed of the plasma at different depths. I believe this is caused by the Sun’s varying motions around the center of the solar system caused by the gravitational polls from the big gas planets. (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune). The different rotation speeds at different depth are causing variations in the solar activity of the magnetic, UV and solar winds.

The Current solar cycle 24 is now looking to be weaker or similar to the solar cycles during the Dalton minimum which happened at the time of the Napoleon wars.

The global temperature was high in 2010, at least in the tropics, because of global warming (El Niño)
But this year the global temperature will drop as a stone, supposedly caused by the weather phenomena of La Niña (Global cooling)

Betsy, who is a global warming advocate, is here trying in vain to defend the indefensible, by saying that the cold weather is caused by human caused climate chaos.
Maybe the spaceship is coming some day, who knows!

But more serious, there is a big problem with this debate.
Right now, despite that Mother Earth is on our side, the other side is winning in the media and too many people are buying in to their lies.

There was a good reason that John Holdren, the eugenicist and the current Obama science czar has renamed the previous terms of global warming and now later climate change with the new label of “climate disruptions”.

I assume this term was probably invented on the advice from some PR-firms working for a global warming lobby group. CAGW is now all about marketing.

This is an effective move which will likely keep the human caused climate change myth live and well even in a cooling world. Especially in the media.

However, more warm weather lead to less storminess because in a warmer world more warming occurs in colder regions. As a result from this, the temperature difference is reduced between the Polar Regions and the Tropics. Less temperature difference, the less energy there is to form powerful storms.

In a colder world one can expect the opposite, more storminess.
The climate is now responding to changes in the Sun, to a negative PDO cycle and to a strong La Niña.
As the climate cools we can expect more storminess, where the jet streams become more twitched and weather blocking becomes more frequent.

This is just what the people connected to the UN with organizations such as IPCC, UNEP are exploiting and use as proof of humans influence on Earth’s climate.
Achim Steiner of UNEP UN Environmental Program is one of the most prominent disruptive weather abuser on the planet, claiming weather extremes are caused by climate change. Implicit claiming, of course, that they were all caused by humans.

You can get one example of the current level of the human climate claiming deception within these organizations by listen to a talk by Koko Warner who also happens to be a lead author of the IPCC.

I don’t know if these people are just ignorant, incompetent or mean, but the consequences of their fanatical belief is that we now have a huge amount of biofuel made from food production. And this during a time when food production becomes more erratic as a result of a Sun driven cooling climate. Currently about 40% of all corn production in the US is used for biofuel production. Clearly a criminal policy and a crime against humanity. Not to mention all the money and policies which is now hampering economic development for a problem that doesn’t exist. Which is “dangerous human caused global warming”.

Let’s face it, we skeptics or climate realists are in a war, fighting for the truth.
I think therefore, using the warmists term, “we have to communicate better” key points why CAGW is false and that we now are in for serious global cooling in coming decades.

Here are a few important points that are not getting across to the media.

• The Sun. The current solar cycle is very weak, last time it was this weak was 200 years ago. Based on historical records the Sun is likely to stay in this low state until 2035 when the Sun is expected to more active. When the Sun is this weak, the Earth’s temperature experience serious temperature drops. Little ice age conditions are likely.
• Satellite measurements of temperature, sea level increase and ice cover tell a different story then the lies that are told by the media. Temperature has leveled off and is sinking. The small sea level rise of 2 to 3 mm/year is not increasing. The ice cover around Antarctica is increasing. The ice cover in the Arctic has from a low level in 2007 started to increase. This information is just a click away. More people should check this out for themselves.
• PDO. The Pacific Decadal Oscillation follows a 60 year cycle and is a dominant source for temperature changes of the Earth. The latest warming period occurred during 1975-2000 and explains most of the warming during that time. Check out the PDO graph on Wikipedia.
• The repeated claims that there are 2500 climate scientists working on IPCC’s report agreeing on human caused dangerous global warming. Only about 20% has knowledge on climate science and physics. The rests are economists, biologist, social engineers, environment scientists and bureaucrats who have accepted catastrophic global warming as facts. Of the 20% that have knowledge on climate science, most of these have based their career on the CAGW theory. Likewise the claims of scientific consensus are false.

These are some points I think is missing today and need to be pointed out.

Millions of people lives are now at risk. Therefore it is important that the public and the world’s politicians stop being deceived so that correct action can be taken to counter the effects to a coming climate that are likely to be much colder.

The former town of Vä was burned down to the ground by the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus in 1612 when he passed by, during a war.
Instead of rebuilding Vä, the new town of Kristianstad was built and fortified on marsh land as a defense against the Swedes, by the Danish king Christian IV. The town’s name means Christan’s town after his name.

The province of Skåne or Scania as it is called in English was later ceded to Sweden during the peace treaty of Roskilde, partly as a result of the cold weather during the Maunder minimum.

The Swedes invaded Poland in 1655. This invasion over time turn into a quagmire from polish resistance.

This caused the Danish king Frederick III to declare war.
Because of this declaration of war, the Swedes quickly broke up from Poland and invaded Denmark from the south.

To end this new war, King Charles X of Sweden decided to try to march to the Danish capital Copenhagen. Copenhagen is situated on the island of Zealand and the Swedes had no access to its navy.

However during the cold winter of 1658 the Swedes were able to march across the frozen water ways between the Danish islands during a march called The March Across The Belts.

They soon reached Copenhagen and forced a peace deal with the Danes and Skåne was a province that was ceded to Sweden.
During my time there, during Christmas, a blizzard hit the south-eastern part of Skåne and the Danish island of Bornholm. Both very blizzard prone areas.

Of course, one of primary leg on which the global warming alarmism is based on, is that the Sun influence on the Earth’s climate is too small to be of any importance because it is only caused by variations in TSI, the Total Solar Irradiance. TSI in plain English is the same thing as the amount of heat that is beaming down towards Earth from the Sun. 

Because of that, the warming which occurred between 1975 and 2000 can only have been caused by CO2.

They say, what else can it be caused by?
Case closed!
Of course they don’t look elsewhere or if they do, they look with closed eyes.

Yet history tells us a quite different story. When the Sun enters periods of low solar activity during grand solar minima, as is the case now, the temperature falls. Yet this can not be allowed to be mentioned in the media. For how long? 

BTW! Maybe the climatologists haven’t looked at PDO Pacific Decadal Oscillation or the AMO Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation on Wikipedia, which both are following the same cyclical variations. If they do they should ask themselves these two basic questions. 

1. Where is the human caused global warming?
2. What is likely to happen the coming next two decades?

Most people are still brainwashed by the CAGW propaganda. When I read comments made by people commenting on the weather. Half ask where is global warming? Or suggest that they need some global warming. Then there are the climate–weather deniers. Who say “don’t you get it, weather is not the same as climate. This is the hottest year ever”. 

Almost no one are aware that the Sun has gone in hibernation, thanks to “the solar climate connection” censoring media.

This weather is caused by a negative NAO North Atlantic oscillation.

Fair enough, but the cause for this negative NAO is unexplained.

But it ironically could be caused by, listen to this “global warming”. The relative warm weather over East Canada and Western Greenland was blamed. I think he is a devotee of Jim Hansen.

Under no time of course, during this interview, was changes in solar activity ever mentioned. This is a total tabu among the hockey team scientists.

• The ClimateGate revelations which showed that a group of leading climate scientists adjusted recent climate records upwards using temperature stations with little quality controls.
• That they adjusted temperature variations downward for temperature estimations for the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age.
• That ClimateGate reveled that the scientists conducted agenda driven research.
• That scientists in this field violated Freedom of Information requests, so that their research is not reproducible anymore by outside observers.
• ClimateGate also revealed that they prevented research to be published which was seen to be a threat to their own preferred theory.
• The number of gates such as Himalaya-gate, Africa-gate, Amazon-gate associated with the IPCC and the climatologists are increasing.
• No credible research has shown that there is a positive feedback between CO2 and water vapor.
• That the expected hotspot over the tropics which is postulated to exist and used in computer models hasn’t been observed to exist.
• That the added effect from increasing amounts of CO2 is logarithmic which reduces added increase in the greenhouse effect the higher its get. The current greenhouse effect from CO2 is near the saturation point.
• That the global temperature has not increased for over 10 years and is now decreasing if one filter out short-term ENSO variations.
• That the ice covers overall is stable with increase around Antarctica and a rebounding ice cover in the Arctic.
• That the sea level rise of about 1 to 2 mm/year is not increasing as postulated by the warmists.
• That the green industrial complex is promoted by powerful financial interests connected to the UN and its ruthless financial backers including banks like Goldman Sachs and financiers like Soros and David Rockefeller.
• And that these financial backers want return on their investments by demanding rents from pristine rain forest they are buying up through the REDD scheme.

At a closed press conference Christiana Figueres the head of the climate conference in Cancún revealed some news breaking information

CF: I’m very angry, because Canada, Russia and Japan are not even willing to continue with the Kyoto protocol after 2012. Therefore we must consider more drastic actions when we get near to the date of the end of the Mayan calendar which is just a few day before the end of the Kyoto protocol. This is not a coincidence in my opinion. The Mayan had very deep knowledge about the future. Therefore it is possible that they could foresee this to happen.

If we don’t do something better than the Kyoto protocol at that time or get a continuation of the Kyoto protocol we must do something very drastic. I personally think we have to continue where the Mayan left out.

I suggest we have to start with human sacrifices again to the Mayan rain god Chaac and to the moon goddess Ixchel.
